Jeffrey Clements
Composer
Jeffrey is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and graduate of the University of Toronto, where he majored in Composition. Since graduating, Jeffrey has branched out into media composition by becoming an associate member of the Screen Composer’s Guild of Canada. With the Guild, he has participated in their annual orchestral reading session in 2019 and worked under Adrian Ellis as part of the Guild’s Apprentice Mentorship Program. He has written music for various media projects, including the 2017 short film "Birds of a Feather," 2018 video game "Fey," the soon to be released game "Summer with the Shiba Inu" and a commercial for Simon Fraser University’s Creative Design Program. As a concert composer, Jeffrey has written extensively for small chamber groups, vocal and instrumental soloists, wind ensembles and orchestras. some recent performances of his works include his piece "Hidden Narrative" being performed at the Canadian Music Centre's event "The Extended Mind" and his "Kawartha Nights" being performed at the first Toronto Tuba and Euphonium Symposium (TOTES).
Jeffrey has performed many solo bassoon recitals, often showcasing his own compositions, and has performed with ensembles such as the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, The Bermuda Philharmonic, Kindred Spirits Orchestra and the North York Symphony Orchestra. Jeffrey has always been a multi-instrumentalist; besides bassoon, he also has extensive experience playing saxophone, flute, clarinet and piano (for which he obtained his rcm grade 10 in 2017). Jeffrey’s passion for teaching has only grown over his five years of experience giving lessons on woodwinds and piano. He focuses on a grounding in classical technique to teach all styles to students of any age.
